Speaking at the official unveiling of the app in Lagos on Wednesday, Pharm. Adetutu Afolabi, Managing Director, Wellness Healthcare Group said users now have the power to choose. “You can choose to enroll for one of the Wellness HMO plans or decide to purchase a one-off service as the need arises on the Wellness Plus app.”
“Wellness Plus has a wide range of features. Users can now apply for their cards, book hospital visits and request a drug refill. Individuals can also track their health on the app and enjoy the convenience of telemedicine from the comfort of their homes,” she added.
Delivering his keynote address on the adoption of technology to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases, Prof. Chimezie Anyakora, CEO, Bloom Public Health said, “One of the solutions is to be insured and help those people who worked so hard in their lifetime. Unfortunately, the risk factors remain high in Africa. NCDs will keep rising due to our lifestyle, unhealthy eating habits, excess alcohol, physical inactivity and many more. It’s a bomb waiting to explode.
Seeing what Wellness HMO is doing, technology has transformed everything and the health sector is doing marvellously well. Many countries have adopted technology to do many things which I am also an advocate of.”

They can pay for only the care they need without subscribing to a health insurance plan. These services include dental and eye care, basic, comprehensive, pre-employment, and cancer screening. Individuals can also request for a doctor to consult with them virtually or visit them at home.
