NCC invites young innovators to apply for 4th Hackathon Live Show
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has commenced applications for the fourth edition of its Hackathon Live Show, inviting young Nigerians to develop technology-driven solutions that can improve digital accessibility.
Themed “Technology Without Barriers,” the innovation programme is open to Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 35 who reside in the Federal Capital Territory.
The application deadline is Friday, August 7, 2026.
The initiative is designed to identify and support innovative ideas capable of addressing challenges faced by people with disabilities and other underserved communities in accessing digital services.
Applicants may submit solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence-powered speech-to-text tools designed for low-bandwidth environments, voice-based complaint and feedback platforms, sign language recognition systems, image-to-voice navigation tools and inclusive employment-matching solutions.
Other areas of interest include accessible USSD platforms, inclusive customer service systems and other technologies that promote equal access to digital opportunities.
The NCC said applicants with functional prototypes or demonstrable solutions would have an advantage, while innovative ideas that are still at the conceptual stage would also be considered.
The Commission has particularly encouraged persons living with disabilities to participate, either as individual applicants or as members of inclusive innovation teams.
Successful participants will compete in a national innovation challenge and gain access to mentorship from technology experts, industry professionals and accessibility advocates. They will also have the opportunity to present their solutions to regulators, investors and other key stakeholders.
According to the NCC, winning teams may receive cash prizes, opportunities for pilot implementation and possible nominations for international innovation programmes. Participants will also benefit from networking opportunities with investors, government agencies and other players in the technology ecosystem.
Applicants are required to submit their personal and contact information, a summary of their proposed solution not exceeding 500 words, details of the problem the innovation seeks to solve and its expected impact.
Applicants submitting as teams are also expected to provide details of their team composition. Prototype or demonstration links may also be included where available.
Applications are to be submitted electronically to indigenouscontent@ncc.gov.ng with the subject line: “Application for NCC Hackathon Live Show 4th Edition – Technology Without Barriers.”
