Lolu Akinwunmi to deliver keynote address at BJAN brands, marketing conference

Prima Garnet chief to lead discussions on AI’s impact on advertising, creative agencies
The Group Chief Executive Officer of Prima Garnet, Mr. Lolu Akinwunmi, has been announced as the keynote speaker at the 2026 Annual Brands and Marketing Conference of the Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN).
The conference, scheduled for Friday, November 6, 2026, in Lagos, will examine the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Nigeria’s advertising and marketing industry.
With the theme, “Advertising in Nigeria & AI: Who Needs Creative Agency?”, the conference is expected to bring together leading professionals in advertising, marketing, brand communication, corporate affairs and technology to discuss the future of creative agencies in an increasingly technology-driven environment.
Akinwunmi, who heads Prima Garnet, is expected to provide insights into the evolving advertising landscape, particularly the opportunities and challenges presented by AI for creative agencies, brand owners and marketing professionals.
His keynote address will form part of the conference’s broader discussions on how emerging technologies are transforming advertising strategies, content development, consumer engagement and campaign performance.
The growing adoption of AI-powered tools has changed the way businesses approach advertising, offering new possibilities for generating creative ideas, analysing consumer behaviour, personalising marketing messages and improving campaign efficiency.
However, these developments have also raised questions about the future relevance of traditional creative agencies and the need for industry players to redefine their value in a rapidly changing marketplace.
The conference theme challenges practitioners to consider whether AI can replace the services traditionally provided by creative agencies or whether the technology will strengthen their capacity to deliver innovative and effective campaigns.
While AI can automate certain tasks and accelerate content production, successful advertising continues to depend on strategic thinking, originality, cultural understanding and the ability to connect brands meaningfully with consumers.
The conference will also feature Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), and Bethel Obioma, Head of Corporate Communications at Sahara Group, among its speakers.
The panel session will be moderated by Tolulope A. Modasbem, Chief Executive Officer of Lead Central and author of Integrated Marketing.
Other panellists include Angela Ukara-Makinde, Chief Engagement Strategist at EXP Marketing Nigeria and Vice President of BJAN; Adeola Amosun, Group Media Manager at Tolaram Group; Dr. Seyi Akindeinde, Founder of Hyperspace Technologies; George Isitu-Okukwe, Chief Executive Officer of TBWA\Concept; and Dr. Oludare Ogunyemi, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State.
According to BJAN Chairman, Mr. Daniel Obi, the conference will provide a platform for industry stakeholders to exchange ideas on the implications of AI for brand building and the future of advertising practice.
