Isheri Platinum Lions Club installs Lion Felix Akinnuoye as 19th president

The Isheri Platinum Lions Club recently celebrated a significant milestone by installing Lion Felix Dejo Akinnuoye as its 19th president on Wednesday, October 1st. The event, held under the auspices of District 404 B3 Nigeria, was marked by a lively atmosphere filled with joy and ceremony.

During the installation, Lion Adelaja Adeleye, the District Governor for the 2025/26 Lions Service Year, shared some heartfelt advice with the new president. He encouraged Lion Akinnuoye to stay focused and to embrace the role of president for all members. He emphasized the importance of diligence, urging him to train his fellow Lions and involve them in club activities. He also highlighted the need for the new president to delegate tasks and motivate members to participate in international Lions Club events.

“The role of a club president is a call to lead with vision, inspire through action, and make a real impact through service. You have the important responsibility to collaborate positively with your board, unite your members, set goals, and deliver projects that truly address community needs,” he said. “Let’s align our efforts with our district theme, ‘Impacting Lives,’ and work together with purpose and determination. We have a fantastic opportunity to create meaningful change in the lives we touch.”

In his acceptance speech, Lion Akinnuoye expressed his heartfelt gratitude, stating, “It is with great joy and immense gratitude that I stand before this noble gathering to accept the honor of serving as the 19th President of the Isheri Platinum Lions Club.” He pledged his commitment to serving humanity and dedicating his energy to uplifting others through service.

He also shared plans for the future, mentioning that the funds raised during the event would go towards building a community vision centre, making healthcare more accessible for local residents. Additionally, he outlined other initiatives for the 2025/26 Lions Service Year, including a strong focus on childhood cancer awareness and providing free eyeglasses and optical medications to community members.

Chairman of the occasion, Comptroller Aare James Folohunsho Ojo, acknowledging Lions Club’s dedication to taking care of humanity, advised guests to donate generously to this cause to uplifting under- underprivileged in the community.

Corroborating this, the guest speaker, Dr Amao Adeyinka Philips said, the eye care service of the Lions Club will afford many people the opportunity to have access to eye care service. He also enjoined guests to respond with their donations to help in taking care of the people in our community.

A total 13 new members were accepted into the fold of Isheri Platinum Lions club.

Lionism was introduced to Nigeria through the efforts of Lion Rene Loiuseau, who established the first Lion Club in the country in 1963. This led to the chartering of the Lagos Lions Club on December 21, 1964. From its modest beginning with 24 members in one club, now known as the Lagos Doyen Lions Club, there are currently about 9,666 members in 400 clubs across Nigeria.
