Interswitch, Executive VP honoured for advancing gender inclusion at WIMCA 2026

Interswitch’s commitment to gender inclusion and leadership came into focus at the 2026 Women in Marketing & Communications Conference and Awards (WIMCA), where the company and one of its senior executives received notable industry recognition.

At the 12th edition of WIMCA, held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, Interswitch was named Most Outstanding Fintech Company in Gender Inclusion, while its Executive Vice President, Marketing & Communications, Dr. Cherry Eromosele, was recognised among the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing & Communications.

The recognitions came as professionals, executives, brands and organisations across the marketing, communications and wider business sectors gathered for the conference themed, “Grow, Give, Glow: Building Resilience for Distinction.”

The event featured discussions on resilience, mentorship, learning and authentic leadership, as well as an exhibition, gala dinner and awards ceremony.

For Interswitch, the recognition highlights its focus on creating an environment where diverse talent can contribute, develop and take on leadership opportunities.

Speaking on the recognitions, Dr. Eromosele said they were significant because they reflected two areas central to the company’s operations — people and impact.

“These recognitions are particularly meaningful because they speak to two areas that are central to how we operate at Interswitch – people and impact. Inclusion is not simply about creating opportunities for different voices to be present; it is about creating an environment where people can contribute, grow and lead. Similarly, marketing and communications have evolved beyond telling stories about organisations to shape conversations, building trust and creating meaningful connections with the people and communities we serve.”

Interswitch also sponsored the 2026 WIMCA, supporting a platform focused on knowledge exchange, professional recognition and greater visibility for individuals contributing to their industries and communities.

The company’s consumer payments brand, Verve, also participated in the event, giving attendees an opportunity to engage with the brand and experience its proposition.

The company said its involvement in initiatives such as WIMCA forms part of its broader focus on inclusion, talent development, excellence and meaningful engagement across Africa.
