How BIGI, Fearless are turning campus tours into hands-on brand experiences

Nigerian beverage brands BIGI and Fearless Energy Drink are changing the way they connect with young consumers, moving away from conventional advertising toward direct, experience-based engagement through the Soundcity On Tour 2026 campaign.

The tour will make stops at 20 higher institutions across the country, bringing a mix of live music, entertainment, and talent-spotting opportunities to students nationwide, while giving the brands a chance to interact with their audience in person rather than through a screen.

Rather than simply pushing brand messaging, BIGI and Fearless say the collaboration reflects a broader strategy: giving consumers something to take part in, not just something to watch. Each campus stop features concerts, contests, talent showcases, and interactive sessions built around the everyday interests of students.

The tour’s stop at the University of Lagos drew a crowd of over 5,000 students, who stuck around despite heavy rain to catch performances from top artistes and join in activities such as the BIGI Music Competition. That contest alone carried more than ₦5 million in prizes, including scholarship awards.

The campaign draws on BIGI’s history of youth-focused entertainment partnerships, most notably its long-running backing of Nigerian Idol, which has helped surface music talent across several seasons of the show.

Speaking on the initiative, Toyin Nnodi, Head of Marketing at Rite Foods Limited, said young consumers now expect more than a passive relationship with the brands they support. “Today’s consumers want brands that understand them and create experiences they can be part of,” she noted, adding that BIGI and Fearless are working to build deeper emotional ties with young Nigerians by combining entertainment, creative opportunity, and direct engagement.

With the tour set to continue at the University of Port Harcourt and additional campuses, BIGI and Fearless say the approach reinforces a broader point: lasting connections with consumers come not just from the products themselves, but from the experiences built around them.
