Stanbic IBTC Bank has reinforced its commitment to partnerships that drive accessible housing delivery following its participation in the 2026 Wemabod Real Estate Outlook Conference, an industry gathering that drew more than 1,800 stakeholders to examine ways of unlocking land and infrastructure for inclusive housing development.
The conference, organised by Wemabod Limited, created a platform for regulators, financiers, developers and policy makers to exchange ideas on improving housing supply, financing models and infrastructure planning across Nigeria. Conversations focused on easing land acquisition hurdles, strengthening regulatory frameworks and creating funding solutions capable of scaling affordable housing initiatives.

During a fireside session, Wole Adeniyi, Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank, noted that sustainable economic progress depends on broad access to housing and coordinated infrastructure development. He stressed that aligning policy direction with private capital and effective execution would help deliver homes that improve quality of life and support long-term national growth.
Also speaking at the event, Tola Akinhanmi of Stanbic IBTC Capital highlighted the need for stronger cooperation among governments, financial institutions, developers and communities. According to him, no single organisation can address Nigeria’s housing gap alone, adding that strategic land reforms and infrastructure investments are essential for viable large-scale housing projects.
In his welcome remarks, Bashir Oladunni, Managing Director of Wemabod Limited, advocated a shift in development planning away from overcrowded urban centres toward well-planned regional growth corridors supported by transportation networks and coordinated land-use policies.
Participants agreed that the conference offered practical ideas for improving housing access while encouraging greater cooperation across the real estate value chain. The discussions also underscored the importance of sustainable urban planning and innovative financing as Nigeria continues to urbanise rapidly.
Stanbic IBTC Bank said it would continue working with public and private partners to expand housing finance solutions, strengthen industry collaboration and support projects that make home ownership more attainable for Nigerians
