Luno launches new Crypto prediction tool for Nigerian traders

Global cryptocurrency platform Luno has launched a new structured Crypto Prediction Markets feature in Nigeria, offering users a different way to engage with digital asset price movements.

The newly introduced tool allows customers to make short-term predictions on the price direction of selected cryptocurrencies and earn rewards in USDC when their forecasts are accurate.

Through the feature, users can take positions on whether the prices of major digital assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Dogecoin, and XRP will close above or below a specified daily benchmark.

The prediction markets run on a daily cycle, with clearly defined timelines and settlement rules, giving participants time-bound opportunities to act on their expectations of market movements.

Unlike conventional speculative platforms, the system—powered by Limitless—focuses strictly on crypto price outcomes within the Luno ecosystem. Participants do not purchase the actual assets but instead engage in a structured market that resolves outcomes transparently using real-time pricing data.

The launch comes amid evolving user behaviour in Nigeria’s rapidly expanding crypto landscape, where more participants are seeking dynamic ways to interact with the market beyond long-term holding or spot trading.

Luno says the new feature is designed to align with this shift by providing a controlled and familiar environment for users to apply their market insights.

Commenting on the development, Ayotunde Alabi noted that Nigerian users are becoming increasingly sophisticated in how they follow and interpret crypto price trends.

According to him, the company aims to combine education with practical tools, enabling users to apply their knowledge responsibly within a secure platform. He added that the initiative complements Luno’s broader learning programmes, including its partnerships with AltSchool, by encouraging informed participation in the market.

To support adoption, Luno plans to roll out “Learn & Earn” resources, including tutorials that explain how prediction markets function and how prices are determined.

The platform has also introduced safeguards to promote responsible use. Users are required to review and accept risk disclosures before participating, transfer funds into a dedicated prediction wallet, and are restricted from taking opposing positions on the same market simultaneously.

Nigeria continues to rank among the world’s most active crypto markets, with growing demand for simple and transparent financial tools.

With the introduction of this feature, Luno aims to offer a faster and more structured way for users to engage with price movements while maintaining strong compliance and user protection standards.
However, the company cautioned that short-term prediction trading carries significant risk, noting that incorrect forecasts could result in a total loss of invested funds.
