The Nigerian naira began the new trading week on a positive note, recording a modest gain against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market.

Figures published by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the local currency exchanged at ₦1,429.30 per dollar on Monday, reflecting a marginal improvement from its previous close.

This performance indicates an appreciation of ₦1.54, or about 0.1 per cent, compared with the ₦1,430.84 recorded at the close of trading on Friday, January 2, 2026.

The latest movement reinforces the naira’s recent stability and signals a continuation of its gradual strengthening trend in the official market.
