Insight Redefini celebrates Cannes Lions gold as African creativity earns global recognition
Insight Redefini has reaffirmed its ambition to position African creativity among the world’s finest following a Gold Lion victory at the 2026 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity by agencies within its integrated communications network, working alongside international partners on Vaseline’s The Real Nigerian Prince campaign.
The prestigious award, presented in the Creator Collaboration category, was secured in partnership with Leo Burnett Singapore, MSL Singapore, Persuasion Communications London and AMA Palmist Visual. The recognition is regarded as one of the highest distinctions in global marketing and communications and underscores the growing influence of African-led creative excellence on the international stage.
Beyond the accolade, the achievement reflects the success of Insight Redefini’s integrated communications model, which combines strategic collaboration, cultural intelligence and creative innovation to deliver campaigns capable of competing with the best in the world.
Recognised globally as the benchmark for excellence in advertising and marketing communications, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity honours campaigns that demonstrate exceptional creativity and business impact. For Insight Redefini, the Gold Lion signals international validation of its long-term commitment to developing agencies that consistently produce globally competitive work.
Commenting on the milestone, Insight Redefini Chief Executive Officer, Babatunde Olaifa, described the recognition as a landmark moment for the organisation.
“Today marks a defining moment for Insight Redefini,” he said. “A Gold Lion is one of the highest honours in our industry, awarded only to ideas brave enough to be different and executed with undeniable craft. ‘The Real Nigerian Prince’ flipped a persistent stereotype into a powerful, human narrative. This global recognition validates that world-class creative work is being made right here by our team.” he said.
The award-winning campaign addressed the widespread challenge of counterfeit skincare products in Nigeria, a problem that has continued to undermine consumer confidence. Instead of adopting a conventional advertising approach, the campaign reimagined the globally familiar “Nigerian Prince” internet scam narrative as a creative platform for educating consumers on product authenticity.
Leveraging creator collaborations, deep cultural insights and a QR code-enabled verification system, the initiative empowered consumers to confirm the authenticity of Vaseline products before purchase, transforming consumer awareness into practical action.
The campaign also generated strong commercial and consumer outcomes. Within 10 days of its launch, it attracted more than 2.8 million organic views and recorded 5,472 product verification interactions. Data from the campaign showed that seven out of every 10 products checked were counterfeit. It further achieved a fivefold increase in engagement, generated 94 per cent positive sentiment and delivered a 13-fold return on investment, highlighting the commercial value of culturally relevant, purpose-driven creativity.
The recognition equally celebrates the contributions of Quadrant MSL and All Seasons Zenith, whose teams played significant roles in delivering the award-winning campaign. Their success reinforces the growing capability of Nigerian agencies to create ideas that resonate globally, influence consumer culture and meet the highest international creative standards.
For the wider Nigerian marketing communications industry, the Cannes Lions Gold represents another milestone in the country’s emergence as a source of globally competitive talent and innovation.
As Insight Redefini continues to strengthen its presence across Africa, the latest Cannes Lions triumph reinforces its commitment to building agencies that showcase the strength of African creativity and deliver world-class solutions for brands across international markets.
