SIFAX Group unveils innovation-led strategy to drive growth in 2026
SIFAX Group has kicked off the 2026 business year with a renewed focus on innovation, outlining a growth strategy designed to strengthen operations, accelerate technology adoption and expand its reach across West Africa.
The Group’s Chairman, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, disclosed this in his New Year address to staff, partners and stakeholders, where he highlighted the company’s strategic direction for the year and reviewed its performance in 2025.
According to Afolabi, the organisation’s 2026 agenda is built around the theme “Growth through Innovation,” with priority areas including operational efficiency, closer collaboration among subsidiaries, sustainability initiatives and improved customer experience.
He explained that the Group is deliberately positioning itself to adapt to evolving industry dynamics and capitalise on emerging opportunities across its diverse business segments.
“Our focus in the year ahead includes deeper technological integration within our logistics and maritime businesses, increased adoption of cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions, and an expanded footprint across the West African sub-region—particularly through our financial services operations,” Afolabi said. “At the core of these efforts is our ambition to build Africa’s global conglomerate—trusted, resilient, ethical and impactful.”
He added that the innovation drive would play a central role in supporting SIFAX Group’s regional expansion plans, especially within West Africa, as the Group works to strengthen its presence and scale its financial services portfolio.
The Chairman noted that the 2026 outlook builds on a year of notable achievements recorded in 2025, despite economic headwinds, regulatory adjustments and global market uncertainties.
One of the standout performances came from Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO), which recorded a 155.45 per cent increase in profit in the first half of the year and secured new handling agreements with international carriers such as Ethiopian Airlines and Air Tanzania.
Within the maritime segment, Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited expanded its general cargo operations, reflecting increased capacity and operational depth. SIFAX Shipping Company Limited also enhanced Nigeria’s export linkages with the launch of direct Less-than-Container Load (LCL) export services to the United Kingdom, while SIFAX Shipping Inland Container Limited continued to set benchmarks in efficient inland container terminal management.
The Group further advanced its diversification strategy with the introduction of SKYPAY Africa, a regional digital payment platform launched through its financial services subsidiary, Sky Capital.
Beyond commercial success, Afolabi reaffirmed SIFAX Group’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, noting that the Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation sustained its support for vulnerable individuals and communities across Nigeria.
Looking ahead, the Chairman emphasised that innovation at SIFAX Group would extend beyond technology to encompass people, culture and shared values. He urged employees to uphold professionalism, integrity, teamwork and accountability as the organisation pursues its long-term goal of becoming Africa’s leading global conglomerate.
