Genesis Energy CEO to unveil power expansion strategies at Congo Energy Forum

Akinwole Omoboriowo II, CEO of Genesis Energy, is set to participate in the Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF) scheduled for March in Brazzaville. He will outline the company’s strategy to deliver 10.5 GW of electricity across Africa, aligning with the Republic of Congo’s energy goals and focusing on transformative initiatives.
Genesis Energy has been at the forefront of groundbreaking power projects, including the provision of 334 MW to Nigeria’s Port Harcourt Refinery, and is targeting 1 GW of power generation within the WAEMU region. The company recently joined forces with BPA Komani in a strategic partnership to fund renewable energy infrastructure, with an emphasis on Battery Energy Storage Systems. In addition, an MOU with the U.S. Agency for International Development aims to mobilize $10 billion for renewable and green energy initiatives, advancing Africa’s transition to sustainable energy solutions.
The inaugural Congo Economic and Investment Forum, taking place March 25-26, 2025, in Brazzaville, will convene global investors and local stakeholders to explore opportunities in the nation’s energy and infrastructure sectors. Discussions will highlight gas-to-power advancements and provide insights into ongoing expansion efforts.
At CEIF 2025, Omoboriowo will showcase Genesis Energy’s achievements in developing energy infrastructure across Africa and demonstrate how private-sector innovations can contribute to the Republic of Congo’s energy security and decarbonization objectives. The company’s expertise in clean energy and strategic alliances positions it as a key player in unlocking Congo’s energy potential and strengthening regional influence.
With growing momentum in renewable energy, the Republic of Congo is focused on diversifying its energy sources to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Solar, hydro, and wind energy projects are gaining prominence, along with battery storage solutions to stabilize supply and demand. As the country looks to expand its renewable capacity and adopt storage technologies, its efforts are expected to enhance grid reliability, meet domestic and regional energy demands, and support environmental sustainability.
