Ikeja Metro Lions Club donates wheeled bins to Agbado Comprehensive High School

In a bid to promote environmental protection, the Ikeja Metro Lions Club District 404B2 Nigeria donated three wheeled bins to Agbado Comprehensive High School (Junior) Secondary School in Agbado, Ogun State, as part of their July project.
The club also organized a lecture on waste management, aiming to educate students on proper waste handling and usage. The lecture, delivered by guest speaker Lion Oluwakemi Eribake, emphasized the importance of collective effort in environmental protection. Eribake stated, “To protect our environment, we have to work together and create a healthier, more sustainable world where all living beings can thrive.” She encouraged everyone to join the mission to protect the environment.
Lion Chike Akaeze, the President for the 2024/2025 Lions Service Year of Ikeja Metro Lions Club District 404B2, highlighted the club’s commitment to community service. He noted, “We are here to exercise one of the Lions International fundamental objectives which is to serve our immediate community. This environmental service activity happens to be our first activity in the new Lions’ year and we strongly know that we all have a role to play to ensure we have a cleaner and safe environment. We must remind ourselves of the need to keep our environment clean and live a healthy lifestyle.”
District Governor 404B2, Lion Tolulope Senbanjo, represented by his chief of staff Tosin Ijadunola, expressed a strong sense of responsibility towards the environment. He said, “I feel a deep sense of responsibility towards the environment. I believe it’s our duty to protect and preserve our planet for future generations. The environment is a critical aspect of our global community, and we must work together to address the pressing issue of climate change, conservation, and sustainability.” He further added, “As Lions, we have a strong history of serving our communities and making a positive impact on the environment. From planting trees to supporting renewable energy projects, we have consistently demonstrated our commitment to environmental stewardship.”
Mrs. Oluyori Adebayo, the principal of Agbado Comprehensive High School (Junior) Secondary School, expressed her gratitude to Ikeja Metro Lions Club District 404B2 for their timely donation. She assured that the school would utilize the wheeled bins effectively to maintain a clean environment and called for continued support from the club.
Lion Blessing Umebali, Environment Service Ambassador and Club Director for the 2024-2025 Lions Service Year, underscored the importance of the environmental campaign. “The significance of this environmental campaign to Agbado Comprehensive High Secondary School is to promote a culture of cleanliness, hygiene, and sustainability. Ikeja Metro Lions Club believes that by bringing this environmental education to the school, students will learn how to make use of the different plastic bins, thereby keeping the school premises clean and odor-free. They won’t stop at the school because we have taught them the culture of cleanliness. And the Speaker, Lion Kemi Eribake’s lecture will further expand their knowledge on how best to care for the environment,” she said.
