Cannes Lions appoints Nkiru Olumide-Ojo as judge for 2024 festival

Nkiru Olumide-Ojo, a prominent figure in marketing and communications at Amazon, has been selected as a judge for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Lions category at the 2024 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

As the Executive Head of Africa Regions Corporate Communications Marketing and Corporate Social Impact at Standard Bank Group, Olumide-Ojo will join other global experts and leaders in the Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) industry to assess works focused on promoting sustainability worldwide.

Scheduled to take place from June 17 to 21, 2024, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is a premier global event for professionals in creative communications, advertising, and related fields, known as the largest gathering of the advertising and creative communications industry.

In a post on her LinkedIn page, Olumide-Ojo expressed her excitement about the appointment, stating, “Such an honor to be selected as a Judge for the 2024 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, particularly in the Sustainable Development Goals category. I am already looking forward to engaging with bright minds and their work… Anticipating the festival and the opportunity to witness the best of creativity in action.”

Olumide-Ojo leads a diverse team across African countries to achieve business objectives through Brand Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Corporate Social Investment Management for the Standard Bank Group. Her previous experience includes working at CMC Connect Burson-Marsteller Nigeria, Virgin Atlantic Nigeria, Airtel, Forte Oil, among others.

Beyond her professional commitments, Olumide-Ojo is an author, columnist, and development speaker. She is a strong advocate for women’s issues and co-founded The Lighthouse Network, a social development initiative with programs aimed at empowering women in professional careers and entrepreneurship, as well as preparing young women for the workplace through formal mentoring.

In September 2017, Nkiru Olumide-Ojo’s book titled ‘The Pressure Cooker: Lessons from a Woman at Work’ was published by Narrative Landscape Press. The book, a compilation of her weekly column in Business Day newspaper, focuses on women and workplace issues. It provides practical insights into how women can succeed in their careers while balancing home responsibilities.

Olumide-Ojo holds a master’s degree in Strategic Marketing Management from Kingston University in Surrey, UK. She obtained her postgraduate and undergraduate degrees in Biological Science from the University of Calabar, Nigeria. She is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing.
