New acting CEO appointed at Access Holdings following tragic loss

Access Holdings Plc has announced the appointment of Ms. Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, succeeding the late Dr. Herbert Wigwe.

Ms. Agbede steps into the role following the untimely passing of Dr. Wigwe, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash alongside his family and a former chairman of the Nigeria Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo.

The decision, made by the company’s Board of Directors and dated February 12, 2024, awaits approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria, as outlined in a statement released by the Board.

With an extensive background spanning nearly three decades in banking and business consultancy services, Ms. Agbede brings a wealth of experience to her new position. She previously held various roles at Access Bank, including Head of Group Human Resources and founding Executive Director of Business Support.

Ms. Agbede holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lagos, as well as a Masters of Business Administration Degree from Cranfield University UK. She is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Management UK and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.
