The Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, tragically lost his life along with approximately five others in a helicopter crash in California, United States.
Reports indicate that the helicopter, which was transporting Wigwe, was en route to Las Vegas when it crashed near the border city between Nevada and California. The incident occurred last night, according to sources cited by TheWill News.
Daily Mail has also reported on the crash, noting that six individuals are feared dead in what marks the state’s second fatal helicopter accident in less than a week.
Officials have stated that the helicopter went down near Nipton, located on the edge of the Mojave Desert, late yesterday evening. The aircraft, identified as a Eurocopter EC 130, was carrying a total of six people at the time of the crash.
This tragic event follows closely on the heels of another helicopter accident in Pine Valley, California, where a Navy chopper crashed during a routine training flight, resulting in the loss of five troops.
The helicopter crash in San Bernardino County occurred overnight, with authorities confirming that no survivors have been located. Sources have suggested to The Frontier that Wigwe was onboard the ill-fated helicopter, accompanied by his wife and son.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department received reports of the downed aircraft near Baker shortly after 10 pm yesterday. In a statement, they indicated, “We are not able to confirm how many people were on board or their names. No survivors have been located.”
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the Eurocopter EC 130 crashed near Nipton on the edge of the Mojave Desert Preserve, east of the 15 Freeway near Halloran Springs.
NBC has reported that the helicopter is registered to Orbic Air, a Burbank-based tour company.
